WE OFFER WIND TURBINES FOR LOCATIONS THAT HAVE A STRONG WIND HISTORY. WIND POWERED SYSTEMS CAN BE COST EFFECTIVE IF THE AVERAGE WND SPEED IS 9 MILES PER HOUR OR MORE. A COMBINATION OF WIND AND PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER RECOMMENDED IF GOOD WIND IS ONLY AVAILABLE DURING PART OF THE YEAR.

Basic Rules for Wind Turbine Consideration

• If tree growth at site is not influenced by prevailing winds or at least visibly flagging and wind is not a frequent nuisance, then the energy potential does not
  justify the investment

• Generally, wind energy is less consistent than solar electric and usually peaks at different times. Wind is best used in a hybrid system with PV.


• Turbine must be placed higher than all obstructions within 500 feet in all directions, by a least 30 feet plus the blade radius


• For a tower structure, budget 1 to 2 times the cost of the wind turbine


• The higher the turbine, the greater potential to produce more power as turbulence is reduced with height.
